"The Body Keeps a Score" is a crocheted sculpture surrounded by the artist's symbols of transformation as she explores a path of women's inner work and empowerment. The Sculpture contains 500 crochet pieces. Each piece represents a woman's monthly cycle. 500 being the average number a women bleeds in her life time. Each piece represents the birth/death cycle, the potential for creativity, the chance of life and also the loss. Caren began this work whilst sitting in circle with women and followed the call to sit in circles throughout a whole year. Discovering the richness and potency of ceremony. Listening deeply and sharing from the soul. The piece is in honour of the women who hold space so beautifully by following their own thread in life.
